Life-Sized Bronze Figurative Sculpture of Well-known American Baseball Pitcher

After The Pitch, The Robert Moses “Lefty” Grove

Bronze Sculpture

Lonaconing, Maryland

The seven foot tall bronze sculpture of Robert Moses “Lefty” Grove stands in the center of the town where he was born.  Hailed as one of the greatest left handed pitchers that ever lived, “Lefty’s” hometown of Lonaconing, Maryland honored him with this sculpture and framed it within a replica of an historic ballpark. The sculpture is surrounded by mounted commemorative plaques that feature the history of Grove’s famed career. Susan recreated “Lefty’s” dynamic pose to demonstrate the strength and nimbleness for which he is well known. Her sculpture is mounted on a concrete “pitcher’s mound” as the plinth that supports the bronze figure and is an integral part of Susan’s design.
